FAQ

  • My car won't start and is making a fast clicking noise, what is the problem?

The fast clicking noise is often caused by a dead battery or poor connection. We recommend checking the terminals and getting the battery checked by a roadside assistance team.

At Dewy's Auto Electrics, we often see batteries drained due to lights being left on, cold weather, alternator not charging the battery or an old battery that can't hold charge. If your battery can't be charged back to full health, we have a range of batteries in our workshop and will complete the replacement for you.

  • Why is my car's air conditioner not cooling?

There are a few variables which could cause your air conditioner to not cool. The most common causes are compressor issues and refrigerant leaks.

As the compressor pumps it produces cool air, so when there is an issue with this system cool air can't be produced. This is often due to wear and tear of the compressor, not enough oil in the system or debris blocking the system.

Refrigerant leaks are also very common as the piping moves and the seals expand with general engine function. Our team can diagnose and fix these issues in our workshop. We can seal leaks and top-up refrigerant to ensure your air conditioner cools once again.

  • Why did my power windows stop working?

Power windows can malfunction for a couple of reasons. The most common issue is that there is a faulty window regulator. Alternatively, there could be a broken motor, cable pulley or window switch. If you notice your window going up slowly, or getting stuck, bring it down to our workshop.

  • How often should car air conditioning be re-gassed?

Generally, vehicle manufacturers recommend that car air conditioning systems be serviced or re-gassed every 1–2 years. Some vehicles can go for as long as 5 years without needing re-gassing however, this is not recommended. The main reason for this is because the unit compressor needs to be in good working order to ensure your system works correctly.
